Questions and Information:

♻️ Sayreville’s New ASL Recycling Carts:

What is changing with ASL service?
Nothing but your bin! Everything else remains the same! Your schedule remains the same, accepted items remains the same, single-stream recycling remains in place, the company that picks up remains the same. The ONLY change for residents is that we are going from small bins to 1 large cart.

Recycling remains SINGLE STREAM! All recyclables are mixed together in the cart: cans, bottles, certain plastics, paper & cardboard.

Key Benefits:

  • Larger Capacity: Holds more recyclables.
  • Durability: Designed for long-term use with secure lids to keep material dry and animals out.
  • Ease of Use: Wheeled for easy movement.
  • Cleaner Streets: Fewer spills during collection.

When Will You Receive Your Cart?

  • Carts will be delivered to all residential addresses starting tentatively after July 12th.
  • You do not need to be home to receive your cart.

How to Use the Cart:

  • Place the cart with the handle facing your house and lid closed.
  • Keep 4 feet of space between your cart and any obstacles (cars, mailboxes, trees).
  • Set out your cart the night before your scheduled recycling day.

What Can I Put In?

Recyclables Accepted:

  • Clean paper, cardboard
  • Plastic bottles and certain plastics
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Glass jars and bottles

Not Accepted:

  • Plastic bags
  • Styrofoam
  • Food waste
  • Electronics
  • Yard waste

DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOES IN YOUR RECYCLING BIN?

Who?

Sayreville residents who currently receive curbside recycling pickup from the MCIA

What?

One (1) NEW 95-gallon rolling cart per home – no need to be home.

Each cart will have a serial number that corresponds to their address.

Where?

Carts will be delivered to your home before July 25, 2025 (cannot be used until 8/1)

When?

ASL Service begins on August 1, 2025

Why?

The MCIA has switched to side-loader service for bi-weekly curbside recycling pickup. The larger containers help prevent litter from blowing into the streets and yards and streamline curbside pickup.

How?

Carts must be 4 feet from any object in the street

Schedules?

Your recycling schedule is NOT changing!

You can keep your old bins for house/yard use OR place them in your new cart to be recycled
