Sayreville Clean Communities Partners for City of Water Day 2026

The Borough of Sayreville's Clean Communities Program was proud to partner with the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership (LRWP) for City of Water Day 2026, joining volunteers and community organizations for a cleanup of the wooded area behind Weber Avenue, adjacent to the Raritan River corridor.

Twenty-eight volunteers spent the morning working together to remove litter and debris from this important natural area. Their efforts resulted in the collection of 72 bags of litter and debris, along with several larger discarded items, making a significant improvement to the site while helping protect local wildlife and prevent debris from reaching the Raritan River.

The cleanup was just one part of a day dedicated to celebrating and protecting our local waterways. Visitors also enjoyed birdwatching with the award-winning Middlesex Merlins, water quality demonstrations, environmental policy discussions hosted by ANJEC, a visit from the National Wildlife Federation's Ranger Rick traveling van, and a presentation by John M. Meyer of Thinkery & Verse highlighting Sayreville's rich brickmaking history.

The Borough extends its sincere appreciation to the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership for organizing this outstanding event and to all the volunteers and participating organizations who helped make the day a success. Special thanks to the National Wildlife Federation, Middlesex Merlins, ANJEC, SEWA International, Thinkery & Verse, and everyone who volunteered their time to help care for our community and the Raritan River corridor.

Working together through partnerships like these helps strengthen our community while protecting the natural resources that make Sayreville a special place. We look forward to participating in future events that encourage environmental stewardship and community involvement.

This free app provides residents in The Borough of Sayreville with sanitation and recycling information specific to their zone. The app along with our website features a monthly calendar of sanitation and recycling pick-up days, a search function that provides information on the proper way to dispose of specific items and tips on ways to reduce waste. Users can also set reminders to inform them of sanitation and recycling pick-up days, as well as directly report problems to the Public Works Department.
 
 Thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection who purchased RECYCLE COACH'S online technology and to Middlesex County, so residents can now access information through their smart devices.
