Over 100 Volunteers Turn Out for Kennedy Park Cleanup Despite Rain

Even with some rainy weather, Sayreville showed up in a big way.

On Saturday, in celebration of Earth Day, more than 100 volunteers came together to help clean up Kennedy Park. The less-than-perfect weather didn’t stop the incredible group of volunteers who came out ready to lend a hand and make a difference. Although the day started off with a drizzle, with a little mist here and there – almost as if on cue, the steady rain held off until the cleanup was finished.

Volunteers included members of our local Scouting groups and their parents, some of our High School clubs, Youth Ministry, and other volunteers, and was truly a town-wide effort. The sense of community and teamwork was evident throughout the day, as neighbors worked side by side to help keep Sayreville clean and beautiful.

The event was organized through Sayreville’s Clean Communities program, which continues to lead local litter prevention, cleanup, and education efforts. Through Clean Communities funding and support, the borough is able to host events like this that bring residents together while making a lasting impact.

This year, Sayreville Clean Communities is participating in an initiative with NJ Clean Communities and Keep America Beautiful’s “Greatest American Cleanup,” as part of the nationwide celebration of the United States’ 250th Anniversary. The initiative encourages communities to come together to clean, green, and beautify their neighborhoods—something Sayreville is already proud to be doing.

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the support of the NJ Clean Communities our community continues to take pride in keeping Sayreville beautiful.

This free app provides residents in The Borough of Sayreville with sanitation and recycling information specific to their zone. The app along with our website features a monthly calendar of sanitation and recycling pick-up days, a search function that provides information on the proper way to dispose of specific items and tips on ways to reduce waste. Users can also set reminders to inform them of sanitation and recycling pick-up days, as well as directly report problems to the Public Works Department.
 
 Thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection who purchased RECYCLE COACH'S online technology and to Middlesex County, so residents can now access information through their smart devices.

The RECYCLE COACH application download is available on the Google Play and Apple Store for free.
