Sanitation Division Responsibilities:
The automated refuse trucks in the Sanitation Division collect household garbage and excess trash from approximately 11,499 dwellings in the Borough of Sayreville.
We are responsible for collection of excess trash in three zones, three times per year.
Excess trash dates are April, July and October.
Leaf collections are currently being done during the months of October, November, December and January if needed. This division is responsible for a spring leaf collection in the months of March and April.
Christmas trees and branches are combined in the collection during the winter months. Tree limbs and wood products are collected January through October.
White Goods are currently collected on the fourth Thursday of each month. The remaining white goods are collected on the fourth Friday of each month. All white goods and light iron are taken to a recycling depot designated by the recycling coordinator.
The recycling at Fort Grumpy accepts co-mingled recyclables, leaves, grass, cardboard, computers, mixed paper, newspapers, branches, large tree parts, tires, light metals and iron on Mondays and Fridays ONLY from 7 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. and the 1st. and 3rd. Saturdays of each month from 7 A.M. to 12 noon. We are also adding TV recycling at Fort Grumpy in April of 2007. Residents may also dispose of household trash and heavy trash Mondays AND Fridays ONLY from 7:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. and the 1st. and 3rd. Saturdays of each month from 7 A.M. to 12 noon.

Heavy trash pickups will be made in April, July and October of 2013. Please call the DPW office at 732-390-7042 for the scheduled dates.
