Parents/Kids Computer-Internet Agreement

1.      I understand that the family computer is a privilege to use and that it is a tool and not a toy. 

2.      I understand that my parents may view my directories and folders at any time.

3.      I will always use a nickname when online.  To protect my family’s identity and mine will never use personal information like our last name, address, telephone number, school name, or passwords. 

4.      I will not download or install any programs, photographs, files or pictures without permission. 

5.      I will only use appropriate language and talk about appropriate topics.  If I wouldn’t show it to mom or dad it probably shouldn’t be viewed, sent or accessed.

6.      I promise to show my parents any inappropriate materials, files, emails or other items and I will never respond to these messages.

7.      I promise to limit my online/computer time and only use it during appropriate times.

8.      I will never have a face to face meeting with anyone I meet online unless my parents approve of the meeting first.

9.      I realize that not everything I read or see online is always the truth.

10. I understand that most people online are honest and decent.  However, there are some bad people online.

11. If anything feels scary, threatening or weird I will print it and tell mom and dad immediately.

I agree to follow these rules and guidelines and to use the computer safely and wisely.
