Tour de Force a Great Success

Release Date: September 16, 2008

The 2008 Tour de Force was a huge success this year thanks to the efforts of the riders, support staff and the many donors.  Due to your combined efforts, this year's tour raised over $200,000.00.  The money that was raised will directly benefit the families of police officers that were killed in the line of duty.

One of the most satisfying portions of the four day bike ride was a stop in Perth Amboy.  The widow and family of Officer Raji who was recently killed while on duty was recognized at a short grave side ceremony.  Later that evening a check was presented to the family on behalf of the Tour de Force.  "It is very sad to have a fellow classmate die but at least we could help ease some of the financial burden the family may endure", said Det. Belotti.

Sayreville Police Department was represented by Sgt. Sean O'Donnell, Sgt. Pete Skarzynski and Det. Richard Belotti.  Other local officers were Captain Bob Weiss of Old Bridge PD, and Lt. Sal Fillamino and Sgt. Frank Todd of Edison PD.

The Sayreville officers would like to thank Sayreville PBA Local #98 and its many other sponsors for making this year's tour a great success.
