To All Sayreville Residents Living IN or NEAR a Flood Zone
FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps for New Jersey have been re-drawn and will take effect on Tuesday July 6th, 2010.
Anyone living IN or NEAR a FEMA identified Flood Zone should go to the FEMA website at http://www.fema.gov to determine if your property is now considered as being in a Flood Zone.
The changes in these Flood Maps may affect residents in one of two ways. Some properties have been added to previously identified Flood Zones and may now require the homeowner to purchase Flood Insurance. It has also removed some properties from Flood Zones and the property owner may no longer be required to carry Flood Insurance.
Anyone living in a Flood Zone should consider purchasing Flood Insurance prior to the July 6th changeover date. By doing so you will lock your policy rate in and grandfather your policy at pre changeover rates.
Residents living IN or NEAR a Flood Zone should contact your Mortgage Company or Insurance Carrier to determine if you will be required to carry Flood Insurance after the July 6th, 2010 deadline.
To view Flood Zones near your home you may go to the FEMA website at http://www.FEMA.gov. Under Types of Disasters click Floods. Then under Disaster Information click Flood Maps. Enter your address and click enter.
